A morning with the cubs

Waking up this morning everything seemed a little doom and gloom, with big black clouds hanging over head. Fortunately it wasn't a half an hour later and the sun started gracing us with its presence. The goal for the day was to see some cats as it was the guests last drive and their last request as they had seen everything already. Within the first 20 minutes of the drive one of the vehicles had found our lioness with her 2 cubs walking across a big open area. Luck was definitely on my side cause I was just there and headed straight in. Camera was charged and ready to do some major shooting.

Unfortunately with the grass being as long as it is at the moment, finding good opportunities were few and far between. We sat with them for about half an hour and the mother decided to show off a little by climbing up into a tree for a vantage point across the plains. She definitely thought she was clever hiding herself in amongst the leaves. She is such a poser but I love her for it!

After morning coffee coupled with an amazing view, we went to join our female leopard and her 11 month old cub who were on a kill close by. She had stashed the baby impala deep into some bushes to avoid detection from the air which also meant limited view from our side but the noise of the cub chewing through the meat and crunching the bone was enough to put a smile on any persons face. The guests had a good view from their heightened position and this was just the cherry on the top of a great safari experience.

We did have one last surprise on the way home, which was a civet bolting across the road in front of us in broad daylight....CRAZY
